Polishing Gold

I recently saw this at a Sephora and was tempted to get it. It is a 18K gold flake top coat! How crazy is it to wear real gold on your nails? The price tag was a little hefty at $36and I would probably never want to remove it. What do you think readers? Would you splurge for this?

Carmen Blasted

I am lacking reds in my collection, so when I saw Zoya Carmen, I knew I had to have it. I got it during the promo where if you bought anything, you would get Zoya Charla and Ivanka free, so how can a girl resist? My lovely aunt from the states brought it up for me and I finally got to try it out for the first time. Zoya Carmen is a gorgeous glossy cream red that applied smoothly and was opaque in two coats. I really like this red and I am glad I got it. After a day, I decided to put on Sephora by OPI Electric Blue Blasted, their version of shatter, on top, and I liked the color blocking combination.

From all the shatter/crackle I have tried so far, if you are a big crackle lover like me, this is what I would say – China Glaze, Sephora by OPI, OPI. I have yet to try Color Club and Nicole by OPI, so we will see how those compare once I get my hands on them.

Hope you are all enjoying some sunny days!

Circular Gradient Friday

Today's gradient is inspired by a picture I saw in a Japanese nail magazine. It is a circular gradient using the sponge technique. The colors are supposed to emit from the center of the nail. I first started it off with a coat of OPI Alpine Snow as my base. Next, I alternated sponging different colors around my nail, leaving the middle of the nail empty until I was ready to sponge on the centre. The colors I used are the following: OPI Lemonade Stand By Your Man, OPI Sparrow me the Drama, Sephora by OPI Diva in Training, SkinFood BL002 Cream, SkinFood Juice 9. I topped this off with two coats of Wet N' Wild Hallucinate, a clear coat with multicoloured glitter, and a coat of Seche Vite.

For my thumb and middle finger, I used 2 coats of OPI Sparrow me the Drama and SkinFood Juice 9. I added 2 diamond jewels for embellishment.

What do you think of this circular gradient polish addicts? Something you would try or want a tutorial on?

Sprinkles and icing

Today I have some yummy nails that my friend showed me a picture of and told me I should try. So here is my attempt at it!

I used two coats of Goldie 02, a light mauve pink as my base coat. Goldie is a new brand I have come across recently. They are advertised to be 3-Free and Vegan friendly. Their formulation is a bit runny and the brush is a little longer than I would have liked, but the color is very pretty and drying time was decent. Sorry about my swatch for the color! I almost forgot to take a picture and started drawing my icing already.

I used Sephora by OPI Dating the Drummer, a shimmery brown, as my icing. For my sprinkles, I used SkinFood PK004, Sally Hansen White On, and OPI What's with the Cattitude?

I have cut down my nails to nubbins for my dodgeball playoffs this week. So you will have to bear with me! Thanks for reading.

Hell to the No

Hell to the No is the final color I have for the Glee collection from Sephora by OPI. Can you guess why I saved this one for last? It is a gorgeous shimmery purple which was opaque in 2 coats. It has lots of pretty gold shimmer in the polish and it captures so nicely in the sun. Now that you have seen most of the GLEE polishes, which color is your favourite my polish addicts?

Express Yourself to Yourself

Express Yourself to Yourself is the final mini set exclusive in the GLEE Sephora by OPI collection (the other two being Celibacy Club and Sue vs. Shue). It is a shimmery salmon pink with bright pink glitter. The polish was on the sheer side and I used 4 normal coats for it to be opaque. It is a fun color but definitely not one of my favourites. It does however photograph quite nicely in the sun.

Sue Vs. Shue

Sue Vs. Shue (Sephora by OPI, Glee collection) is a dark shimmery blue. I really like the color as it is not as dark as OPI Russian Navy. It was opaque in two coats and application for this color was very smooth. I used CND Super Shiney as my top coat. Just for kicks, I layered Celibacy Club over this color as well. Polish addicts, what are some of your favourite dark blues?

*EDIT* this polish is a GLEE mini set exclusive

Gleek Out

Gleek Out (Sephora by OPI, Glee collection) is a shimmery green packed with gold glitter that sparkles brightly in the sun. This was opaque in 3 thick coats and applied fairly smoothly. This color was inspired by the character Kurt.

Slushied & Celibacy Club

Slushied (Sephora by OPI, GLEE collection) is a bright blue cream inspired by the character Finn from when he got slushied on the show. Slushied was opaque in 2 thick coats and did not take too long to dry. I was not completely in love with this color but it is nice for what it is. I decided to layer Celibacy Club (mini set exclusive) on top and instantly it was so much prettier. Celibacy Club is a sheer glittery multi-colored diamond top coat made for layering. It is absolutely gorgeous especially when the light hits it. It is unfortunate that this does not come in a full size bottle because I would totally go and buy it.

STILL more GLEE polishes to come! Are you gleeked out yet?

Miss Bossy Pants

Miss Bossy Pants is the next swatch up from the GLEE collection Sephora by OPI. It is a shimmery bright purplish-pink fuchsia that takes 3 coats to be opaque and takes a little bit longer to dry compared to Diva-in-Training. The formulation is better on this one as no streaks were seen! These are pictures from my lightbox. I was playing around with exposure and lighting to try and capture the true color. The first picture is closest to the real color but the real color is a little brighter. I really need to find more sunlight time to swatch.

Still more GLEE to come!

Diva-in-Training

Here is the first swatch from the GLEE Sephora by OPI Haul. Diva-in-Training is a bright in your face hot pink. It was really hard to capture the true color in pictures, but I tried my best. It was opaque in 2 coats, but I am wearing three because it was a bit streaky. It dries very fast and even after 3-4 days, there is hardly any tip wear (see indoor flash picture). I think this polish is aptly named because it explodes with confidence and sass. It is not at the Diva level yet because as you all know, to be a true diva, one needs SPARKLES.

More swatches from this collection to come!

Sephora by OPI Swatch Part II

Here is the second part of my swatches on the Sephora by OPI 18 piece collection – all painted with 3 coats; from left to right:

What a Broad – pretty cream plum purple color which applied smoothly

Just a Little Dangerous – a dark shimmery purple which also applied nicely

Cab Fare – A bright shimmery yellow which applied well but is quite sheer as you can see VNL even after 3 coats, definitely not one of my favourite colors

Caliente Coral – Very nice bright orange color whose formulation and application was great

Sephora by OPI Swatch Part I

Here is the first part of my swatches on my Sephora by OPI 18 piece gift set – all are painted with 3 coats unless otherwise specified; from left to right:

A True Romantic – (5) even with this many coats this polish is still a bit streaky although this pale pink color does look quite pretty and compared with all my other pink OPIs, there are no dupes.

Techno Girl – gorgeous bright pink that applied flawlessly and could be opaque in 2

Access 24/7 – a nice berry pink which applied smoothly

Ms. Can’t Be Wrong – a shimmery purple plum color with a heavier tint of red with smooth application

Stay tune for Part II! I love sunny days.
