Goldie is a goodie

Here is a quick swatch of another gorgeous holographic nail polish from Goldie. Goldie 1 is a pretty pale lavender holographic polish that took 4 medium coats to be opaque and a little more time for drying. However, as you can tell, it is totally worth it. I really like this color!

Metallic Gradient with a twist

For today's gradient Friday, I decided to use an e.l.f. set I recently picked up called Metallic Neon Trio – Electric Rave. It is the first time I tried this brand, and it is said to be 3-free and no animal testing is done. My set came with the following three colors which I used for my gradient: Metallic Orange, Metallic Magenta, and Metallic Blue. Original names, they are not. However, dry time and opacity were decent on these. Metallic Orange dried semi-matte though, which was interesting.

For this gradient, I sponged the colors on diagonally for a bit of a fun twist. It worked out much better than I anticipated. Then, for even more added fun, I stamped on BM 208 with Wet n Wild Black Crème. I topped this manicure off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Is this a manicure you'd be willing to try Polish Addicts? Let me know if you want a tutorial for this one!

Spring Cherry Blossoms

I recently took some gorgeous pictures of cherry blossoms when they were in bloom and was feeling that I should transfer them onto my nails. I used SkinFood PK006 from their Jojoba Pure Nail line as my base coat. It is a shimmery light pink that took 3 coats to be opaque and a long time to dry. I had to redo 3 of my nails as it kept smudging when I tried to stamp on my design.

I used BM plate 221 (new set) and a white polish to stamp on the design, Next I added some translucent multicoloured hexagonal flakes in the middle of some blossom to add a bit of sparkle. I sealed it all off with Seche Vite. I really like how this turned out but maybe next time I will try a different shade of pink!

Stranger Tides

To coincide with the 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie which was released this weekend, here is a quick swatch of OPI Stranger Tides. Stranger Tides is a cream light khaki grey which looks quite gorgeous on the nail. It took 3 coats to be opaque and not patchy, but definitely worth it. I said it once, but I will say it again. I love this whole OPI collection. First time EVER. Which one is your favourite Polish Addicts? I love hearing from you!

Bad Romance Shattered

Hope you are all enjoying your (hopefully sunny!) weekend. Here is a swatch of Deborah Lippman Bad Romance that I found in a store recently. Bad Romance is a deep jelly purple that is packed with glitter and hexagonal sequins. It was opaque in 2 coats, but I thought it looked better with 3. I thought I would try something new and decided to diagonally add OPI Silver Shatter across my index and ring finger. The results were not as breathtaking as I thought it would be. Meh. I really like this color though and am glad I finally got my hands on it. You can view a picture of Across the Universe here, a blue version of this polish which came out at the same time last year. The pictures is not as good as this one since that was pre-SLR camera.

Catwalk gradient

It is another gradient Friday! I had recently bought ColorClub Catwalk Queen Set so I decided to take it out and make a gradient with the colors. However, to my demise, I realized someone had switched out 2 of the colors (Fashion Addict – the holo!! and Front Row Diva). How inconsiderate is that? Not only do I not have 2 of the colors from the set, but now I dont even know what colors they are since they do not have labels. Polish Addicts, help me out here with the names?

I used Color Club Runway Muse as my base coat, a pearlescent pink/silver with a hint of aqua duochrome. This color is really quite pretty; I forgot to take a picture by itself. Next, I layered 2 more ColorClub colors on (nameless since of the switcheroo). First is a creamy pink that might be Vintage Couture, but it looks a bit darker. Lastly, at the tips is a pretty cream grape purple.

Finally, I used Konad plate M64 with their special shimmery purple polish to stamp on some flowers just so I could see how it would look like over a gradient. I am actually quite pleased with the result. It is almost the long weekend! Have a great one!

PS- You may have noticed that I have added some FOLLOW ME buttons on the left hand side. My wonderful friend helped me with those, don't they look great? You can now also follow me on Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter.

Limeade in the sun

Hello Polish Addicts, sorry I have not updated the past few days...blogger WAS supposed to upload, but it did not. It has been super sunny these past two days and I thought I would take some pictures in the sun. Essence Lime Up! is a creamy granny smith apple green that had good formulation and coverage. This was opaque in 2 coats. It is the first time I have tried a polish from essence and I must say I am impressed, especially at the cheap price point!

I wanted to try a triangle tape manicure I saw pictures of on Chloe's blog, but failed miserably. I cannot seem to get my triangles straight or the same size. I decided to post pictures anyways to show that practice will eventually make perfect, so everyone shouldn't despair! I used China Glaze Techno Teal for the triangles, a holographic teal color.

Happy sunny day!

Spring Gradient

Today the sun is peeking out from the clouds and it makes me feel like warm weather is here to stay soon. Here is my spring gradient for this Friday! I used 2 coats of JOE Dupioni as my base coat, a shimmery white color. Next I sponged on OPI Banana Bandanna, a creamy yellow, on 2/3 up my nails. Finally, I sponged on Goldie 13, a bright shimmer pink, on my tips. I used a coat of nubar Pixie Dust to give it a little more sparkle. First two pics are taken in light box, last pic is taken with light streaming in from the windows.

For my floral designs, I put on gold and pink hexagonal sequin on to form flowers on the rights side of each nail. Lastly, I topped it all off with Seche Vite. That is all for today! Is spring in the air for you Polish Addicts?

Goldie in Stitches

Today is another Goldie nail polish that turned out to be quite a nice surprise. The color in the bottle totally did not represent how gorgeous it is on. Goldie 7 is a pretty medium pink holographic nail polish. I used 4 thin coats to achieve opacity. The dry time on this polish was longer than OPI/China Glaze but it was not as long as SkinFood. I am so glad I stumbled onto this color!

After a day, I stamped on a swirly pattern using my new Bundle Monster plate 9 with Essie In Stitches, a creamy dusty pink. I liked the subtleness of this design as it still allows me to see the gorgeousity of the holographic polish while given it a bit of elegant flair with the design.

Have you tried any Goldie polishes yet Polish Addicts?

Clouds in the sky - gradient friday

Another week, another gradient Friday! I used Nicole by OPI Baby Blue and China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le for my blue gradient. I also got to try out some nail stickers from my sample pack from Viva La Nails. I really like this sticker design and they were so easy to apply. They stuck on quite well and I am really happy with its durability. I cannot wait to try more of these out!

Color Blocking

Color blocking is appearing everyone in fashion this year, so I decided to try it on my nails. I used OPI Mermaids Tears as my base coat. It applied nicely and was opaque in 2 thick coats. For my blocking color I used Color Club Pucci-lious, a gorgeous bright cream purple. I used two coats of this and it applied smoothly. I finished this manicure off with a black line in between using ArtClub Striping polishes.

Fresh Air Fund

Hi Polish Addicts, today will be a post about a cause I was contacted about and thought was a great program. I am all about helping people around us but children especially pull my heart strings.

The Fresh Air Fund's Volunteer Host Family program, called Friendly Town, gave close to 5,000 New York City boys and girls, ages six to 18 who live in New York's toughest neighborhoods, free summer experiences in the country and the suburbs last year. Volunteer host families shared their friendship and homes up to two weeks or more in 13 Northeastern states from Virginia to Maine and Canada. The Fresh Air Fund is in need of host families for this summer. Host families are volunteers who open their hearts and homes to children from the city to give them a Fresh Air experience that can change lives. If you could help help out, it would help them place these wonderful children into a loving host family for an experience that could change their lives forever.

Polish addicts, if you live in eastern US/Canada, check here to see if you are eligible to help out! It is a wonderful opportunity to give these children a wonderful experience.

You all rock. Polish more soon.
