First Franken

This is my first ever franken! I have a huge lemming for RBL Bikini Bottom, but I missed their 50% off sale due to work and could not justify buying it. Therefore, to satisfy my lemming, I decided to look at swatches of the color and try making one myself. The color turned out pretty close and I am quite happy with the jelly look.

I used ¼ Sally Hansen Xtreme Clear, ¼ Sally Hansen Xtreme Blue me Away, and roughly ½ Sally Hansen White On.

What do you think polish addicts? It is not named yet either...any suggestions?

Cracked liquid metal

Today I will show you the second crackle polish I bought from the China Glaze Crackle collection. Fault Line is a shimmery purple crackle that I swore I would buy when I saw swatches online and it definitely does not disappoint. I wore the crackle diagonally and I like how it looks! What do you think polish addicts?

For my base color, I used Nicole by OPI Miss Independent from their liquid metal collection. It is a gorgeous metallic light pink color that was opaque in 2 coats. It applied smoothly with no streaks. Gorgeous.

Purple Gradient Friday

Sorry for the late post, but I have relatives over and it has been busy. It is now week 3 of gradient Friday! This is another gradient nail cocktail set like the pink one shown last week. My best friend picked this out for me when she was in Hong Kong, isn't she the best? I like purple gradients a lot, and this one is quite pretty. However, I found the dark purple color in this set not as blend-able as the dark pink color. I topped this mani off with 2 coats of seche vite.

I have yet to receive any suggestions to what type of color combination gradients you would like to see polish addicts, so if you have time, do comment and let me know!

Spring Love

Today is a quick post on my favourite products of the month in makeup. First up is Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Rose. I am a sucker for packaging and the cute hearts just drew me. It is a very nicely pigmented blush that smells amazing. It comes with a mirror and a blush applicator under the blush making it very portable. This is said to promote a feeling of happiness because of the ingredients that are used.

Next up is Clinique Bottom Lash mascara in Black with its adorable floral print packaging (see what I mean?). It is the perfect petite size brush with wide enough bristles for even and great application. My bottom lashes have never looked so good! It is said to last for 90 days and like all Clinique other products, it is 100% fragrance free and tested for sensitive eyes.

Polish Addicts, have you tried either of these products? What do you think?

Dr.'s Remedy Polish

Polish addicts, I tried my first crazy scissors scotch tape mani! What do you think? Today I will be showing you a relatively new brand of polish that is now out on the market so this post will be picture heavy!

Dr.'s Remedy enriched nail polish is a doctor-formulated polish brand that is 3 Free and also contains enriched ingredients to strengthen your nails. It is said to contain tea tree oil, vitamin C & E (which helps make stronger nails), and wheat protein (to increase shine).

The polishes I tried were quite a nice surprise as I did not know what to expect. The formulation was smooth and the colors were nicely pigmented. The dry time on these polishes are excellent, it dries very quickly. The brush on the polish was not bad as it was the right length, but a wider brush would be nice for better control and coverage. The design on the bottle is simple but does the job well. It is a tall square glass bottle with a rubber grip top which is a good because it is a little hard to hold with your less dominant hand. Now on to the pictures!

First up is HEALING Heather Grey which is a very pretty light grey cream color which was opaque in 2 coats. This one is my favourite out of all these.

Next is
DESIRE Dark Brown which is a deep chocolate brown cream which was also opaque in 2. I was surprised at how much I liked this color.

Last is
REVIVE Ruby Red which is a shimmery red color. I had more difficulty with this application and it was less opaque than the other two and did not glide on as nicely but nonetheless it was not streaky.

You can purchase Dr.'s Remedy polishes by clicking here. They are $16/bottle which is on the pricier side, but keeping your nails healthy while having nice colors on is worth the price right? They have a decent selection of colors and VIGOR Violet caught my eye...

These were sent for me to review. All opinions are my own.

CND Green Scene

Today marks the first official day of Spring. CND Green Scene is the perfect spring green to start off the season. It applied smoothly and the formulation was good. It was opaque in two coats. Lots of new nail design ideas for spring – I cannot wait to show all of you polish addicts!

Pink Gradient Friday

Welcome to week 2 of gradient Friday! Today I will show you a gradient done with a gradient nail cocktail set. It comes with three polishes in the color that you choose. For this gradient, I used their pink set. It comes with a dark color, a medium sparkly color, and a super sparkly blender polish. You will need to top it all off with a quick drying top coat as these polishes take a bit of time to dry. I used Seche Vite to top mine off and it worked perfectly! You can buy these online at Sasa or at any ColorMix/Sasa locations located mostly in Asia. Is this set something you would try polish addicts?

DS Extravagance

OPI DS Extravagance was something I picked up at a random nail place while waiting for the bus. I am sure that all you polish addicts know what I mean when you are constantly on alert for polish sales or HTF polishes. I saw that they were have a sale on OPI products, so after lurking outside for a bit, I went in. To my surprise, they had quite a few DS OPI products on sale, but only this color caught my eye. It is a gorgeous purple holographic color with a tint of red. It was opaque in 2 coats and looks utterly breathtaking in the light. So far, the entire OPI DS designer series that I own have not failed to impress...this is getting to be quite expensive. Oh OPI, why do you do this to me (not that I don't love you for it)?

DS Opulence

OPI DS Opulence is a deeper pink holographic with a slight hint of brown. It applied effortlessly and was opaque in 2 coats, much like its lighter counterpart DS Reserve. It is amazingly sparkly even in the shade, and much more so with flash. Another winner from the DS line from OPI!

Every Friday, hopefully, starting today will feature a nail gradient for you to see and sometimes learn how to do! The polishes I used for this sponge gradient are – from left to right:

SkinFood BL002, Sally Hansen Green with Envy, OPI Green-Wich Village, SpaRitual Twisted Vine, China Glaze He’s going in Circles.

Feel free to make any color combination requests and I will see what I can do!

Cracked Concrete

During last weekend, I had the pleasure of going to Sallys for the first time and picking up polishes from the Crackle and Tronica line. China Glaze released 6 colors in their color line and I really love their formulation. I am wearing SkinFood OR004 as my base coat and China Glaze Cracked Concrete on top. I love this effect as it is so random. The formulation was super smooth and I like it more than OPI shatter. Polish addicts, make sure your base coat is completely DRY before applying crackle polish, it truly does make a big difference. I topped my manicure off with Seche Vite top coat which I also tried for the first time and am now madly in love.

Gotta Paint'em all

I was talking to my friends this weekend about Pokémon and it inspired me to do a manicure about it. Pokemon Yellow was my favourite game to play on the DS because it was adorable how Pikachu followed you around...anyways...

I painted my base coat with Essie Really Red (Polish addicts, what other awesome reds are there? I do not seem to own any) and painted the top half with OPI Alpine Snow. I used Sally Hansen Black Out to draw the lines. For my ring finger, I used SkinFood OR004 for the base and then painted the face with a brush.

I bought the new crackle polish from China Glaze! I will do a post on them soon. They are AMAZING.

Sophisticated Strawberries

It was quite sunny yesterday and I thought perhaps spring was here. Warmer weather, gorgeous sun, flowers in bloom...what bliss! I was in a great mood and dressed for spring, but alas, the sun was deceiving and it was quite cold. I still got some sunny pictures in, so it was a good day.

I decided to paint my nail into little strawberries because it is a pattern on my March NailUp! Calendar. I used 2 coats of China Glaze Ahoy! from their Anchors Away collection as my base coat. It is a gorgeous raspberry color with pink glitter. Application was smooth and it was opaque in 2 coats. Maybe I should have painted raspberries instead? I used Sally Hansen White Out for my dots and tips and CND Green Scene for the leaves. Here is how to paint your own.

1) Choose and paint a base color for your strawberry (red, pink, raspberry etc)
2) Sponge white/light pink on at the tips for a more realistic looking strawberry
3) Paint the leaves on using a green polish – you can paint rounder leaves if you are going for a cuter look
4) Top with your favourite top coat and you are done!

Polish addicts, I will announce something exciting this Friday so stay tuned!

A peek of Spring

Here is a quick and fun nail design I saw on Youtube and decided to do myself. This is done on top of Lancome Lavande. I used ArtClub deco in white and black and silver to paint the leaves and the petals. I topped it all off with a coat of CND Super Shiney. Spring is almost here! Yay!

Lancôme Lavande 359

Lancôme Lavande 359, also known as Violet Groove in the US, is a gorgeous cream purple color that is perfect for spring. It applied flawlessly and was opaque in two coats. I am absolutely in love with this purple and this may top my favourite purple list. I have heard that this is a dupe for RBL Purple Haze but as I do not own any RBLs at the moment, this was a must-have for me. The color was pretty hard to capture and I took over 30+ pictures before settling on these two. This polish is part of the Ultra-Lavande Collection Spring 2011 by Lancôme. Polish addicts, what do you think of this purple?

Blue Gradient

I was looking through my photos and I found a subtle blue gradient I did a while back. Aside from the Sally Hansen HD 02 that I am holding in the picture, I genuinely do not remember what else I used.

*EDIT* found a note I wrote about this manicure! I used SkinFood BL004, ChinaGlaze 2Nite, OPI Russian Navy, and OPI Catch me in your Net and topped it off with dollar store sparkles
