Painted Paint Splatters

I have been seeing a lot of paint splatter nail designs, so I decided to give it a try myself. I could not for the life of me, get splatter on my nails by using a straw, so I drew them on instead. I used OPI Alpine Snow as my base coat. For my paint splatters, I used Color Club Almost Famous, Sally Hansen Xtreme Blue Me Away!, OPI Green-Wich Village, Nox Black Tie, and Revlon Midnight Affair. I topped this all off with Seche Vite.

What are your thoughts on paint splatter designs Polish Addicts?

Metallic print gradient tutorial

For today's gradient Friday, I have posted up a gradient tutorial that some of you have requested! Here is the tutorial for my neon print gradient. CLICK ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE.

Prep: a cosmetic sponge, 3 nail polish colors, paint on base coat

1. Sponge on your first color all over your nail. Press harder on the bottom of your nail and fade near the top.

2. Next, sponge on your next color diagonally on the top 2/3 of the nail. Again, press harder near the bottom and fade near the top of your nail.

3. Now it is time for your third color. Sponge it on diagonally on the top third of the nail and press down hard.

4. Put on a quick drying top coat and get your stamper and plate ready!

5. Stamp on your design. I used BM 208 with Wet n' Wild Black Crème.

6. Finally, seal it all with a top coat and clean up around your cuticle with an orange stick or cotton balls.

There is also a picture of how the manicure looks once it is completed. Hope this helps! Click here for the products used.

Broken Hearted Yellow

I have been trying to use crackle in different ways and here is another way I used it. I applied 2 thick coats of Color Club Almost Famous, a neon cream yellow, which was a little streaky. I waited for it to fully dry then applied China Glaze Broken Hearted, a bright pink crackle, in V shapes down the nail. The effect was kind of feather like and I really liked how it turned out. Lastly, I sealed it with a coat of Seche Vite to make it shiny looking.

Pop-tastic Gradient

Today's gradient is done using all the colors from Color Club Pop-tastic Collection. I thought it would be a cute and fun way to use all the colors and keep up with the trendy color blocking technique by sponging them on. Here is the list of the colors used:

Almost Famous – a bright neon yellow cream; Wham!Pow! – a bright neon orange; Poptastic – a neon pink; Warhol – a medium neon pink; Twiggie – a neon cream green; Chelsea Girl – a medium blue

I am holding Pucci-licous in my hand, a pretty cream purple, a post using that color can be found here.

Have a wonderful and hopefully sunny day Polish Addicts!

Monarch Butterflies

Sun has been coming out more and more, so I decided to do a monarch butterfly manicure which has been on my to-do list for awhile. For my base coats, I used 2 coats of China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le, a pretty cream blue with a mix of purple. Next I used Sally Hansen nail art pen in black to try my wings, and outlined them thicker using a brush with Nox Black Tie. Finally, I added white dots using Sally Hansen nail art pen in white and topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.

I included both an outdoor and an indoor shot. Thanks for dropping in!

All or nothing

It all comes down to this game. The final game for the Stanley Cup Playoffs is tonight. To show my support, I once again did a Canucks design. This will be the last one for awhile. I used Orly Lunar Eclipse, a pretty foil-like blue with pink and purple shimmer, as my blue color. Next, I used Sinful Colors San Francisco, a shimmery dark green, as my green color. I used Sally Hansen nail art pen in white for all my lines, and OPI Alpine Snow for my base white.

I am ready for the game. Jersey, check; Shirt, check; nails, check. C'mon boys, Let's do this.

Funky Purple French

This funky French manicure was inspired by this Nicole by OPI duo set I picked up at Shoppers for a great bargain a while back. The Grape Debate, a dark plum purple, applied very smoothly and was opaque in one coat. Glitz and Glisten, a sparkly purple with pink and purple glitter, took 3 thin coats to show some sparkle, and will take at least 3 thick coats to be opaque. The packaging on the back showed different ways you go wear it, and I decided to mix it up and try them both out at the same time. It was a little hard to see the French tip on top of the darker polish and it did not really look like the packaging picture. Nonetheless, I really like this manicure and have been wearing for a total of 3 days! What do you think Polish addicts?

Canucks Gradient

Today is another gradient Friday! Polish addicts, can you guess what this was inspired by? For this week, I used a wet gradient method for this color combination. I used Wet N' Wild Hallucinate for my first coat, let it dry for a little bit, then layered on Sally Hansen HD Resolution on the top 2/3 of my nails, and finally on the top 1/3 of my nails I used Nicole by OPI Me + Blue, a shimmery dark blue. I added one more coat of Wet N' Wild Hallucinate and sealed this all with Seche Vite and CND Super Shiney to give it more of a jelly look.

Polish more soon!

Believe.in.Blue.

Although my heart hurts from the last two games, I still believe in our boys. This is a quick mani I did before heading to watch the game. I used China Glaze Blue Iguana, a shimmery foil-like blue with blue and fuchsia microglitter. The formulation was a bit watery but it was workable. I used 2 coats in my picture, but it will need more to be opaque as it is on the sheer side.

Next, I layered on OPI Dating a Royal for a deeper blue, and lined my stripes with ArtClub nail art pen in white, and striped on the green line with my striping brush and CND Green Scene.

Circular Gradient Friday

Today's gradient is inspired by a picture I saw in a Japanese nail magazine. It is a circular gradient using the sponge technique. The colors are supposed to emit from the center of the nail. I first started it off with a coat of OPI Alpine Snow as my base. Next, I alternated sponging different colors around my nail, leaving the middle of the nail empty until I was ready to sponge on the centre. The colors I used are the following: OPI Lemonade Stand By Your Man, OPI Sparrow me the Drama, Sephora by OPI Diva in Training, SkinFood BL002 Cream, SkinFood Juice 9. I topped this off with two coats of Wet N' Wild Hallucinate, a clear coat with multicoloured glitter, and a coat of Seche Vite.

For my thumb and middle finger, I used 2 coats of OPI Sparrow me the Drama and SkinFood Juice 9. I added 2 diamond jewels for embellishment.

What do you think of this circular gradient polish addicts? Something you would try or want a tutorial on?
