Hell to the No

Hell to the No is the final color I have for the Glee collection from Sephora by OPI. Can you guess why I saved this one for last? It is a gorgeous shimmery purple which was opaque in 2 coats. It has lots of pretty gold shimmer in the polish and it captures so nicely in the sun. Now that you have seen most of the GLEE polishes, which color is your favourite my polish addicts?

Express Yourself to Yourself

Express Yourself to Yourself is the final mini set exclusive in the GLEE Sephora by OPI collection (the other two being Celibacy Club and Sue vs. Shue). It is a shimmery salmon pink with bright pink glitter. The polish was on the sheer side and I used 4 normal coats for it to be opaque. It is a fun color but definitely not one of my favourites. It does however photograph quite nicely in the sun.

Sue Vs. Shue

Sue Vs. Shue (Sephora by OPI, Glee collection) is a dark shimmery blue. I really like the color as it is not as dark as OPI Russian Navy. It was opaque in two coats and application for this color was very smooth. I used CND Super Shiney as my top coat. Just for kicks, I layered Celibacy Club over this color as well. Polish addicts, what are some of your favourite dark blues?

*EDIT* this polish is a GLEE mini set exclusive

Gleek Out

Gleek Out (Sephora by OPI, Glee collection) is a shimmery green packed with gold glitter that sparkles brightly in the sun. This was opaque in 3 thick coats and applied fairly smoothly. This color was inspired by the character Kurt.

Slushied & Celibacy Club

Slushied (Sephora by OPI, GLEE collection) is a bright blue cream inspired by the character Finn from when he got slushied on the show. Slushied was opaque in 2 thick coats and did not take too long to dry. I was not completely in love with this color but it is nice for what it is. I decided to layer Celibacy Club (mini set exclusive) on top and instantly it was so much prettier. Celibacy Club is a sheer glittery multi-colored diamond top coat made for layering. It is absolutely gorgeous especially when the light hits it. It is unfortunate that this does not come in a full size bottle because I would totally go and buy it.

STILL more GLEE polishes to come! Are you gleeked out yet?

Miss Bossy Pants

Miss Bossy Pants is the next swatch up from the GLEE collection Sephora by OPI. It is a shimmery bright purplish-pink fuchsia that takes 3 coats to be opaque and takes a little bit longer to dry compared to Diva-in-Training. The formulation is better on this one as no streaks were seen! These are pictures from my lightbox. I was playing around with exposure and lighting to try and capture the true color. The first picture is closest to the real color but the real color is a little brighter. I really need to find more sunlight time to swatch.

Still more GLEE to come!

Diva-in-Training

Here is the first swatch from the GLEE Sephora by OPI Haul. Diva-in-Training is a bright in your face hot pink. It was really hard to capture the true color in pictures, but I tried my best. It was opaque in 2 coats, but I am wearing three because it was a bit streaky. It dries very fast and even after 3-4 days, there is hardly any tip wear (see indoor flash picture). I think this polish is aptly named because it explodes with confidence and sass. It is not at the Diva level yet because as you all know, to be a true diva, one needs SPARKLES.

More swatches from this collection to come!

Dampened Spirit

It hasn’t been the best of weeks this past week and today was no different. I also found out that Ji has posted her finalist for her RBL competition and mine was not selected. I didn’t have high hopes that mine would be picked, but given the week of lows, it was still a disappointment. Nonetheless, I will share my entry with you here!

“Most girls have dreamed of being princesses and even as we grow older, a part of us still hold those memories fondly. Cinderella’s dress transformation has always seemed the most magical to me, and it is her dress that I base this color on. My dream nail polish color would be a light off-white based blue with pale pink iridescence and silver microshimmer. The picture doesn’t show exactly what I want my polish to look like, but if you use your imagination and put the two together and add some pink on top, it will come pretty close.”

Really Red

Continuing on with the Valentine’s Day theme, here is a swatch of Essie Really Red. It takes 2 coats to be opaque and the application is quite smooth. It is a really nice red and reminds me of cinnamon hearts. I decided to add a design to it afterwards by diagonally painting white tips by using scotch tape and Sally Hansen White On. Afterwards, I used Konad plate m3 and stamped on the opposite color heart on each side. For my middle finger, I stamped the full design on using Konad special white polish.

Hope you are having a nice weekend. Thanks for dropping by.

I added some nice hearts as tips using Konad Special White Polish and plate m56. Pictures are taken inside my light box (needs more lights), and outside in the sun.

Have a wonderful day readers.

Too Hot Pink to Hold'em

The OPI Texas Collection has just come out so I wanted to see what the rage about their new “sorbet-like” shades was about. What does that even mean? I set out to find out. I bought OPI Too Hot Pink to Hold’em because I love pink. This polish is a lot sheerer than most OPI polishes, but builds up in color quite nicely. I am wearing 3 thick coats in the picture, but at 2 coats it was a bit lighter. It has more of a red undertone than most of my pinks so I’m not sure if it’s pink enough for my liking. However, the finish is undeniable gorgeous. I am not using any top coat and you can see how awesomely jelly and shiny it is! I am guessing this is what OPI meant by a “sorbet-like” finish. Click here to watch their video. It was hard capturing this color as it is a bit pinker in person and less red. First picture is taken indoors with flash, the other ones are taken other in the sun. Now I am debating if I should pick up some of the other coral/pinks in this collection…..what do you think of this “sorbet-like” finish?

Valentine Stripes

Here is another Valentine’s Day design. I used a sparkly pink polish from Daiso which took ages to dry as my base coat. For the stripes I used OPI Thanks so muchness! And Art Club striping color in white. I outline with China Glaze Cheers to You.

Pink Plaid

It is finally February so now I can try out some Valentine’s Day themed nail designs! Up first is a cute feminine plaid design that I saw in a magazine and painted my own version. I used 2 thick coats of Nox Chiffon as my base color. Next, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme in Black Out, White On, and Twisted Pink to paint my plaid stripes. Finally, I used China Glaze Cheers to You and silver striping tape to line my smile line. I topped it all off with CND super shiney.

More valentine day nail art to come!

Valerie

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! My tummy is so full from eating yummy dinners. This is Zoya Valerie. I am absolutely in love with this color. It’s a gorgeous purple shimmer with a tint of red. It was opaque in 2 coats but I am wearing three with top coat. Application was smooth and removal was not too bad. I got a bit over excited about the sun we had recently, so I apologize if the picture is a little bright. I am also super excited about all the new spring collections coming out…my wallet better watch out.
