Gradient Friday : Happy Easter

Good Friday is a day to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us on the cross...a time of reflection and thanks.

For this Easter-y gradient, I painted my nails with a coat of Sally Hansen White On. Next, I painted 3 lines using the three polishes I chose on a sponge and sponged only 1 layer on because I wanted a lighter whimsical effect. I used Joe Blueberry, Joe Lavender, and Joe Buttercup.

Gradient Friday : Jammed Packed

It has been crazy hectic with trying to juggle everything in my life right now, so I thought it would be fitting to do a gradient that kind of reflects all the different parts of my life coming together. I started out with 2 coats of Essence nude glam café olé, a light beige cream, as my base. Next, I sponged on joe Periwinkle, a cream blue, on the top half of my nails. Following that, I stamped on the cracked lines from a BM plate using purple Konad polish. I finished this mani off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Gradient Friday : Anti-Bullying Edition

Anti-bullying day is coming up this week so I decided to do a pink gradient in honor of it. I used Joe Cherry Blossom, a pale creamy pink, as my base color. Next, I used a sponge and painted two stripes of color to create my sponge gradient. I used Joe Watermelon, a bright fuchsia pink, and Lacoste Hermine Pink Lemonade, a bright lemonade pink, for this mani. Spread the message that bullying in all forms is unacceptable and stand up against it. Have a nice weekend.

A Smile makes Everything Better

A smile can brighten up your day, regardless of what may have happened, a smile still makes you feel just a little bit better. I had so much fun painting these nails that it brought multiples smiles on my face! I started off with a base coat of Color Club Almost Famous, a bright yellow cream polish, and used 2 coats. Next I stamped on smiley faces with BM plate using Konad Black. Finally, I finished off with Seche Vite and accented one nail with Sally Hansen Black Out. I stamped a full happy face on my thumbs. Gradient Friday : Tranzitions

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you know how excited I was when I heard that China Glaze was coming out with a line of polishes that changes color with the addition of top coat. China Glaze's Tranzition line opens up a door of opportunities for lots of cute designs without having the bulky layers and worrying about matching colors. 

First up is a gradient tip design I did but did not fully capture well. I found that the more layers of top coat you added, the darker the color turned, so I tried a 2 layer tip gradient which is a bit hard to see in the pictures for which I apologize. I cannot wait to show you more cute designs from these polishes. I used China Glaze Modify Me for this gradient, which turns to a darker blue with top coat.

Anti-Bleak Sprung

The tree is decorated and cookies are baking...time to post up some fun festive Christmas nail designs. Today is a simple half moon manicure using some festive colors from OPI Mariah Carey collection. I used 2 coats of OPI Sprung, a foil-like copper red polish, as my base color. This color is really pretty and its definitely one I would pick up from this collection. I stuck paper hole reinforcers (similar) near my cuticles and pressed them down tightly. Next, I used OPI Anti-Bleak, a cream plum colored polish, and painted it over the top. I did this one finger at a time, removing the reinforcers immediately after painting. I finished off with a coat of Seche Vite. Hope you are all enjoying the holidays.

Gradient Friday : Breaking Dawn

If you are a follower on my instagram and twitter, you know that I was extremely excited to find the essence Twilight: Break Dawn part 2 line at my local Shoppers. I picked up all 4 colors so it's only fitting that I used one for this week's gradient Friday. I decided to use Jacob’s protection, a deep blue jelly polish with blue, silver and purple fine glitter, as my base. The formulation on this polish was a bit goopy and was a bit hard to apply. I added a few drops of my nail thinner (Seche Restore) and then it applied better. This polish takes a while to dry, so you need to be patient and not move around too much. I used China Glaze Angel Wings on my accent finger and also for my sponge gradient. Happy Friday!

Gradient Friday : Fading Gradient

I started this fading gradient by using essie chinchilly, a cream granite grey with a hint of purple, at the tips of my nails. I let it dry a bit and then used a clear polish to drag out the bottom color towards my cuticles. Next, I used nails inc. special effects sugar house lane, a beige cupcake sprinkle effect, and applied it in the middle of my nails. After letting it dry for a bit, I used the clear polish to drag it down towards my cuticles for a gradient fading look. For my accent finger, I used China Glaze Glistening Snow which is a beautiful silver sparkle polish with holographic bits scattered throughout.

Gradient Friday : Chrome

I am totally loving these chrome polishes. They are so pretty and not that streaky at all compared to past chrome polishes. I used 3 coats China Glaze No Plain Jane, a chrome deep purple, for my base coat. Next, I used China Glaze Want My Bawdy, a chrome royal blue, to sponge on my tips. I finished this manicure off with some white dots and a coat of Seche Vite.

Gradient Friday : Minnie Mouse

I am so excited that OPI is releasing their new Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection. This collection consist of 4 colors in red and pink of course! I will show you some swatches soon, but I decided to use them for a gradient for this mani. I started out with 1 coats of a gorgeous red named The Color Of Minnie. Next, I sponged on I'm All Ears followed by If You Moust You Moust. Lastly, I stamped on some dots diagonally. I failed a bit in this as I was in such a hurry that I smudged it. Sorry! Hope you still enjoyed.

Happy Easter

This design was inspired by Cadbury mini eggs! My favorite (especially the ones with crackle candy inside)! Dots were made using a dotting tool and Sally Hansen White On. Hearts are Fluttering

Here is another Valentine's mani I did over the weekend! I started off with 3 coats of Color Club Ready to Wear, a pink-gold duochrome polish. I used Wet N' Wild Kaleidoscope on my tips to add some glitter. Next, I painted some hearts using my dotting tool and Sally Hansen Madame X. I finished off this look with some pink jewels and a coat of Seche Vite.

Reverse Glitter Gradient Friday

I wanted to try a reverse glitter gradient today using 2 new polishes I received in the mail. These two polishes are Shoppers/Walmart exclusive released by Nicole by OPI. I think these polishes are perfect for Valentines Day. I used 3 thin coats of  Pink. Seriously., which is a very pretty bright cream pink polish. It reminds me a lot OPI I'm Indi-a mood for love, but this may be a bit brighter. Next I sponged on Fabulous is my Middle Name near the cuticles, fading up near the tips. Fabulous is my Middle Name is a gorgeous gorgeous polish. It is a clear based polish pack full of multi-colored bar glitter and mini silver round glitter.

The second picture shows the most accurate picture of the pink polish. The formulation for both of these was good but the bar glitter needed 2 coats of Seche Vite in order for it to be smooth. I think this bar glitter polish is a must have! So pretty.  Have a great weekend and enter the giveaway here if you have not!

Magnetic Gradient Friday

I bought two new magnetic polishes today at Claire's. I decided to try if they would blend together well in a gradient. My thought was that since you have to put the magnet on each finger right away for the design to show, it might meld the two colors together. I used a shimmery pink and a shimmery purplish blue polish for this magnetic mani. These polishes do not have names. I did a wet gradient and put the magnet immediately on top. It is supposed to be a wavy design but the colors didn blend together as well as I wanted it to. I put a coat of Orly Twilight, a sparkly bluish silver shimmer top coat, in hopes of blending it more together. Still not what I was hoping. I might attempt this again because I really think in theory it should work. Hope you enjoyed this anyways!

Beads and Dots

It's been awhile since I have done an elaborate design on my nails, so since I had a bit of extra time this weekend, I decided to do one. I started off with 2 coats of China Glaze Go Go Pink. This polish is a creamy baby pink polish that applied pretty smoothly. It is a little bit streaky so you have to be careful when applying. Next, I painted my tips using Nails Inc. Devonshire Row (a vibrant lilac) and Finger Paints Winter Sky (a shimmery turquoise). After this dried, I lined it with the corresponding color bead from my Martha Stewart set, last used here. I finished this look off with some random dots applied with a dotting tool using OPI Alpine Snow. I sealed it off with a coat of Seche Vite and it has lasted 3 days already with little damage. Gradient Friday

This gradient Friday color combination was suggested by one of my lovely readers. I used SinfulColors Midnight Blue, a shimmery cobalt blue, as my base color. This polish was surprisingly opaque albeit a bit watery. I used one coat of this. Next, I used SinfulColors Daddy`s Girl, a shimmery deep violet with fuchsia glitter, and applied this to the top half of my nail. This polish was quite sheer and watery, which was a bit disappointing because the color looked gorgeous in the bottle. I used 2 coats of this. I mixed a little bit of each SinfulColors polish and used a small paintbrush to blend in the line where the two polishes meet. I applied Claires Dazzling, a clear based glittery fuchsia polish on the tips, to finish the look. I sealed the final gradient design off with a coat of Seche Vite. Polished Style : Chevron

It has been awhile, with the holidays and all, but without further ado here is week 2 of Polished Style. Today's feature pairs funky runway chevron nails with an everyday outfit to make it very wearable and chic. Jen does a great job of pairing colors, textures, and patterns with this nail design, so be sure to check out more fashion pictures here. We used a classic navy and white color scheme for this nail design and chose to do both a single chevron design and a layered double chevron design. Look below for a tutorial on how you can create the layered double chevron look yourself at home!

Materials (from left to right) : Dr.'s Remedy Noble Navy / OPI Alpine Snow / Seche Vite Top Coat / Scotch Tape / Zigzag craft scissors

Prep: Start by painting on your choice of base coat.

1. Paint your nails with your base color. I used one coat of Drs Remedy Noble Navy.

2. Peel off a piece of tape and cut along the edge using your zigzag scissor. Stick on your palm before applying it to your nail. Be sure to press down on the edges. Paint contrasting color on top. I used OPI Alpine Snow.

3. Pull tape away from you immediately after applying the polish. The polish MUST still be wet in order for you to get a clean edge. Paint over with a coat of Seche Vite (Very important, otherwise drying time will be long).

4. Repeat step 2 once polish is dry. Use your base color this time. Remember to pull tape off immediately.

5. You now have 3 layers. Apply another coat of Seche Vite. You can stop here if you wish. Otherwise, onto step 6!

6. Repeat step 2 one last time. Don't forget to stick the tape on your palm before adhering to your nail. Finish off with a coat of Seche Vite. Your design is done!
