Tiffany

Thanks to everyone who participated in my giveaway! The winner will be announced in the next couple of days. Today’s post is of Zoya Tiffany. It is a very pretty pink with gold-bronze shimmer. This polish was opaque in 3 coats. Application was smooth and easy to apply but tip wear was already noticeable by day 2 when this picture was taken. It is my first Zoya polish as I have recently found a beauty supplier near me that sells them.

Thanks for reading~

A World of Compassion

SpaRitual A World of Compassion is a gorgeous blue cream with hints of grey and purple undertone. It applied very well and was opaque in 2 coats. I am wearing no top coat in the first picture and CND Super Shiney in the latter pictures. I used Konad plate M56 with their special white polish to stamp on the bow design on the thumb and ring finger.

Tomorrow is the last day of the giveaway! Click here to enter if you havent already.

Mint Candy Apple

Essie Mint Candy Apple is a greenish blue cream color. It takes 3 coats to be opaque and it is a bit streaky. It definitely takes longer to dry compared to some of the other Essie polishes. There is so much rain here, I took this picture when there was a bit of sun last week. I am craving the sun.

Giveaway ends in 4 days! Click here to enter!

Shattered Dream

I have been waiting for OPI Black Shatter to come out ever since I heard about its release. So when it finally came out, I went to pick it up along with OPI Teenage Dream from the new Katy Perry line because I am a sucker for pink.

OPI Teenage dream is a super sparkly and glittery pink that applies easily but removal will definitely take more time. I am wearing 2 coats in the picture, but I would probably wear 3 if I were to wear it alone.

OPI Black Shatter is the new polish they came up with that crackles into random spots upon application of one coat on top of a base coat. Black Shatter is driving me a bit insane. I like big blotches of splatter, as seen on my ring finger, and not thin lines of shatter, shown on my pinky. I have read and experimented with the amount of polish and the pressure of application, but I still cannot get how I want it consistently. Dear readers, do you have any suggestions? What do you think of this crackle effect? Yay or nay? I am still on the fence. I will wait for China Glaze Crackle Glaze Collection before I make my final decision.

PS – can you see I switched up the base color for my thumb, middle, and pinkie for the crackle? I am wearing Nicole by OPI One Less Lonely Glitter

Japanese Nail Magazines

There are many reasons why I love my best friend, but here is definitely one of them. She went to Japan recently and brought me back lots of goodies. Here is a picture of the two Japanese magazines she bought me and a picture of the NAIL calendar inside the Nail UP! Magazine. It has a different nail design for each day! How awesome is that?

Thanks again hun! Click here to enter the giveaway!

Ps- sorry for the crappy pictures of the pages, I will take better ones next time if you want. Let me know!

Scandal

This post is a number of firsts for me. It’s the first time I have tried a neon nail polish and also the first time I have tried a polish from Sinful Colors. Sinful Colors Scandal is a jelly neon pink color that glides on smoothly. However, it loads a lot of nail polish onto the brush, and you have to be careful on how you apply it otherwise polish will flood the nail. It took 3 normal coats for it to become opaque. I really like this polish and its jelly-like consistency. I was afraid that neons would be too bright on the nails and wouldn’t look good on my skin tone, but I am glad to be proven wrong. The pictures do not fully capture the real color that I see indoors, it is a brighter pink.

Helmer love

I finally gave in a bought a helmer! I absolutely love it. I can organize all my nail polishes by color now. I don’t remember why I didn’t buy one earlier. Whee! I spent the rest of the day building it (all by myself J) and organizing my polishes. However, the downside of this is the awareness of some colors that I definitely lack and the amount of space still left inside…which can only lead to more polish shopping. Attached is a picture of a mini haul to get me started on filling some of the empty space…oh my.

St. Barth's Blue

Short blog today - Essie St Barth’s blue is a greyish blue which took 3 thick coats to become opaque. It also takes a while to dry, more than other Essie’s. The color is quite calming though. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway here!

Snowflake Water Marbling

It is snowing here again! This is one of the reasons I love winter. Snow is so gorgeous. Light, fine, fluffy, untouched snow is the best kind of snow there is. In celebration of snow day, I wanted to water marble some snowflake designs on my nails. However, to my disappointment, my nails are still too stubby at the moment, so the design did not actually show on my nail. I still liked how it turned out though, and the color scheme and sparkles still remind me of snowflakes. Maybe next time I will make a smaller snowflake in my water and attempt it again.

I used JOE Dupioni, a shimmery white, as my base coat. For my water marble design, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme in White On and Blue me Away!. Afterwards, I used Nubar Pixie Dust as a top coat to add a shimmery winter look to my snowflakes. I debated using jewels for the intersections, but decided against it. Instead I took silver circular flakes and added one onto each finger.

Which season/holiday is your favourite dear readers?

Scotch tape stars

I read a blog and a magazine article on punching a shape on scotch tape, applying it to your nail, and then covering it with nail polish. I thought this was a great idea, so I attempted to try it on top of my Misa Dirty, Sexy, Money. I punched out stars and painted them with SkinFood OR004. I did like the color combination, but I thought the shape I used was a little small so it did not turn out the way I wanted it to look. I will definitely try this technique again using a different shape.

Great fun way to add a design to your nails isn’t it?

Dirty, Sexy, Money

I don't know why I haven't worn this color since I bought it because I am absolutely in love with this color now. Misa Dirty, Sexy, Money is a gorgeous greenish-blue cream polish and it applies like a dream. It is opaque in 2 thick coats or 3 thinner ones. I wore this color for 2 whole days with no urge to dress it up or take it off. This is the first Misa nail polish I have tried and the formulation was very smooth, no complaints!

What do you think about this color readers?

Sangria

Nox Sangria is a deep reddish-purple wine color. It is opaque in 2 coats, but I am wearing 3 thin coats. The brush is a little longer than I like, making application just a tad more difficult. The formulation was very smooth and it was not streaky at all. I am quite pleased with this brand so far and would be willing to try more from this brand. Have you tried any?

Pretty in Pink

Here is a design that I decided to do yesterday – it is not one of my favourites, but with the right outfit, it still looks pretty cute. I used SkinFood PK004 on my thumb, middle, and pinky finger as my base coat. On my index and ring finger, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Twisted Pink. For the designs I used Sally Hansen Xtreme White On and China Glaze Cheers to you. For the finishing touch, I added jewels in the center of the bows to make it more feminine. I have been flipping through some nail magazines during the holidays and there are some new ideas I would like to try out when I find the time. Thanks for reading J

Cheers To You

This is the color I rang in the New Years with~ China Glaze Cheers to you is from their 2010 Holiday collection and it is a stunning micro-shimmer silver that was opaque in two coats. The application was really smooth and it does not feel lumpy at all once dried. To make things more festive and celebratory, I stamped a design on using Konad plate m64 using their Black stamping nail polish. It reminds me of laser lights or random fireworks patterns, therefore I found it appropriate. Here's wishing you a wonderful and happy 2011. Cheers!
